Across the world the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected the thousands of people, even shutting down international travel and has made schools and places of work shut down. That also includes the sports world, on March 11, 2020 it was announced that NBA (National Basketball Association) would suspend their season after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus, along with teammate Donovan Mitchell.

There were talks that the NBA would continue play, but with no fans allowed in the arena. The Golden State Warriors were planning to finish the rest of their season without fans in attendance. As well as the whole NCAA men's and women's was planned to be played without fans. A day after the NBA suspended their season, the NHL also followed and suspended their season as well. While Gobert and Mitchell tested positive, the NBA had teams that played the Jazz are now put under quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus to other players.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver spoke with ESPN's Rachel Nichols, he was looking at potential ways for the NBA to start up because of the lack of sports events happening in the past week. Silver beings up three different ideas that could be in place for the NBA season, they can come back and play with fans and play going back to normal. Option two would be restarting the season without fans, and to test players on if they were healthy enough and cleared by doctors that they are allowed to play but without fans. Finally the third option would be getting a group of players to join and play a game for a charity. of some sort. Silver says that all suggestions are welcome. NBA games will resume “when public health officials give us the OK,” Silver says. When asked about a complete flip of the NBA calendar starting on Christmas Silver stated, "Possibly. Those are things we’re always talking about." As of March 20, 2020 according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "The Nuggets announced Thursday that a person within the organization had tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the number of known coronavirus cases within the NBA to 14." So there is no telling when the NBA will resume this season or if at all this season.

One of the biggest cancelations of the entire COVID-19 crisis has been the NCAA. With the cancelation of both men's and women's tournaments being canceled. As well all spring sports being canceled. With the loss of March Madness the NCAA won't profit from one of its biggest events of the college season. Notable seniors had their seasons end without them knowing their season was going to end. Michigan State Cassius Winston, as well as Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu as well as many other seniors who had their final year of eligibility taken away from them due to the Coronavirus.

With tons of professional sports suspending their seasons, there were talks that the NFL should suspend free agency. The NFL decided to keep their schedule the same with the franchise tag and free agency on the same day. This turned out to be the best solution for people who use sports as a way to forget about everyday life. The biggest free agency move that took the whole NFL by surprise was Tom Brady announcing on social media that he would be leaving the New England Patriots. He eventually signed with Tampa Bay and now will be facing Drew Brees twice a year in the NFC South. Not only was the Brady move huge in the sports world, some big trades came out this past week. Buffalo trade their 1st, 5th, 6th round pick in 2020 as well as a 4th round pick in 202. The Bills also get a 7th round pick in 2020 according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Another big trade and most people call it one-sided Houston trades their number one wide receiver to Arizona as well as a 4th round pick, in return Houston got David Johnson as well as a second and a 2021 4th.

Other big signings have come with Cowboys wide receiver Amir Cooper Signing a five-year $100 million-dollar contract to stay in Dallas. Dallas also franchise tagged Quarterback Dak Prescott, with all these big moves while the rest of the sports world was at a halt was something that not only helped the people who cover sports, but as well as the people who use sports as a way to forget about the dangers that are being faced across the world.
